All good things come to an end! As the date for coring the greens was here the West Green was used for one last bowling session, along with croquet. Winter croquet will start once the greens are ready – look for an announcement from Sue Dix-Cooper. Thank you to everyone who helped with sweeping and removing the corings, especially foreman Andy who kept everyone on their toes!! Not the best weather due to rain, but this was a very warm event inside, with lots of smiling faces being awarded prize money and trophies. Mark Dix-Cooper won the Bowler of the Year trophy, very well deserved! Thank you to organisers and everyone who contributed to making this a success.
A wonderful day to start September and welcome all the 20 teams taking part in the Barbara Williams Mixed Fours Tournament. Our club was well represented with 6 teams taking part! Not only that but one of our home grown teams came third! Thank you to all volunteers who helped behind the scenes to make this event such a success. Here are some photos from the day:
Another wonderful, sunny day greeted our 18 bowlers for the Triples competition. After team assignment there were some very close games, which demonstrated how well evenly matched all the teams were. A very warm, sunny day greeted all our singles players for a day full of drama and amazing competition. There were 10 women and 8 men all competing, with some very hard fought games. As it was a singles competition it was the first player to reach 15 points, with a time limit of 90 minutes. One game was so close it ran out of time at 14-14, a real tied game to the last minute! Wonderful weather for fun games. In the morning we had 2ft bowling, where any bowls within 2ft of the jack counted for points. At lunchtime there were wonderful goodies, prepared by Janis – thank you! As it was so hot we only played 8 ends for triples, with prizes for the winning team. Thank you to all who helped behind the scenes for such a superb day!
A lovely dry summer day where there was full sun in the afternoon combine with the red and white of Canada Day led to some great bowling with some amazing games. Only one team won both of their games, and they were the overall winners: Mark Dix-Cooper, George Bangham and Melanie Klintworth. Second place went to Kathie Draeseke, David Crowe, and Ian Cumming, closely followed by Elaine Rolston, Susan Boyd, and Sue Dix-Cooper in third place. Many thanks to all the very many volunteers who contributed their time and effort to the success of this wonderful Canada Day event, and thank you to convenor Jan Miko.
