Huntley Mixed Pairs

Six teams vied for excellence in the Huntley Mixed Aussie Pairs competition on a relatively cloudy day. All players had some good shots! Paul Klintworth and Janis McRonald came first with two wins and a draw, Eline Rolston and Susan Boyd came second with two wins, and Russell Boyd and Cherie Wong came third with a win and a draw. Thank you to Ken and Ralph for convening.

Canada Day 2025

What a wonderful way to celebrate this Canada Day! Six bowling teams of triples competed for the Canada Cup, while there were two open bowling draws and sundry croquet competitions. And after lunch everyone enjoyed a special Canada Day strawberry cake made from scratch. There was also the traditional talent contest, won by Paul and Cherie.

The day started with the raising of the flag and singing Oh Canada, followed by the traditional photo of everyone decked out in red and white. Many thanks to our convenors and organisers, Jan and Sandra, and to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

Results from the Canada Cup were 1st place to Bill Sharp, Ken Sherlock and Janis McRonald, 2nd place to Mark Dix-Cooper, Art Monahan, and Melanie Klintworth, and 3rd place to Paul Klintworth, Margit Hunt, and Paul Klintworth.

Friends and Family Event 2025

Warm sunny weather greeted our fiends and family visitors for this second annual event. Many volunteers had spent time preparing and setting up the club for this successful day, and we were lucky to have Wade Grant, our local MP, throw a ceremonial bowl to open proceedings. In his speech he even intimated that he may wish to join the club! He was able to enjoy trying both lawn bowling and croquet, as were all our visitors. Thank you to all the many volunteers, and to the organizers! Here are some photos from our annual Friend and Family Event:

Help Needed!

From Kathie Draeseke:

We have another fundraising event: on Thursday June 19 from 9 am to 11:30.  The faculty and staff of our neighbouring West Point Grey Academy are coming to bowl as they do every year.  The Ed Angel league will be on the west green so we will use the east green.

They pay very generously.  If you would like to come and help out, please let me know

Thanks,
Kathie

Saturday Mornings in May

Here is a little reminder about the Saturday morning bowling and croquet practice session from 10:00am-12:00pm. There will be coffee, tea and cookies for those that would just like to come up and socialize .

Know of anyone who might be interested but isn’t sure ?

This is a perfect time to come over. A quick intro for the basics, then roll a few bowls or play croquet, maybe even join a quick game!

We would L❤️VE to meet them.

Opening Day Apr 26 2025

Beautiful sunny weather greeted some 44 bowlers and several croquet players keen to celebrate the new season. Tom Digby, Park Commissioner, threw the ceremonial first bowl and unveiled a plaque in memory of Bill Parker.

Coring and Last Bowling of the Season

All good things come to an end! As the date for coring the greens was here the West Green was used for one last bowling session, along with croquet. Winter croquet will start once the greens are ready – look for an announcement from Sue Dix-Cooper. Thank you to everyone who helped with sweeping and removing the corings, especially foreman Andy who kept everyone on their toes!! Thank you also to Sue and Mark Dix-Cooper for co-ordinating everything 😍
