Events that have occurred at or involved the club
On Wed 30 Aug 2017, the UBC School of Architecture + Landscape Architecture held a pizza + bowling event at the club. This was part of their new-student orientation programme.
There were 110 students. They all played 2 lawn bowling matches of 6 ends each. Thirty club members volunteered to help out with coaching, assistance, etc.
Everybody (including the volunteers) had a great time.

The 2nd & 3rd place teams were essentially tied. We had to use the number of won ends as a tie breaker to decide the ranking.
On Sat 15 Jul 2017, we held a Singles event. Each player played 3 games with each game ending when a player’s score of 15 was reached. Some games went quickly; however, some went to the wire with the score reaching 14-14 and a final end determining the winner.

On Sat 27 May, 14 teams participated in this annual tournament convened by Verle Kaweski. Each team played 2 games north & south in the morning, and 2 games east & west after lunch. Congratulations to the winners:
We had perfect weather for these games!
We had beautiful weather and a great turnout to our Victoria Day barbeque this year. People bowled in the morning and afternoon; the barbeque satisfied all hungers.
Although our Opening Day was a “wee bit wet” for bowling on soft greens, WPG members weren’t deterred — well…not much!
A few loyal souls left the rest of group (which was socializing in the clubhouse) to see the first bowl of the season (an excellent shot, btw) delivered by coach Ken Sherlock. They then scuttled back to shelter, anticipating much better weather for Sunday’s Open House!
